Spending over 2 years on this beautiful property, we worked hand in hand with the building team and homeowner to create a landscape that is functional to the site. As you enter the property, we built a custom gate to provide a sense of security while also giving you a feel of a grand entrance. The majority of soil on this site was heavy clay, making things hard for drainage, compaction and run off. We installed over 8,000 square feet of Unilock permeable pavers to handle the runoff from the road and catch remaining from hard surfaces of the property. Using a softer bluestone throughout the patios, walkways and hot tub area, it allows for the homeowner to enjoy being barefoot from the house to the beach and onto the boat. This site had shoreline protection that was installed about 40 years prior, we re-worked the existing boulders along the waterfront to ensure no future damage to the new home and landscape, added a beach and an area to smoothly transition to the dock. We used a native wildflower mix along the shoreline to not only stabilize the soil above the boulder protection but bring in the butterflies and birds to enjoy this property as well. This project was featured in the Michigan Landscape and Nursery magazine, receiving the Grand Award for residential landscape design and install in 2020.
